PATRIK FITZGERALD - All Sewn Up (7" vinyl-rip)

The musical and cultural importance of the Punk Rawk Thang was that it enabled and allowed any one who wanted to express themselves to get up and ‘av a go. Patrik Fitzgerald was one such person. Armed with an acoustic guitar and his cockney voice, he produced a multitude of short, sharp shocks of social observation, that were released on a string of EP’s in 1978 by independent label Small Wonder. By 1979 he had entered into a licensing deal with major players Polydor Records, who released this single All Sewn Up b/w Hammersmith Odeon’s, and the accompanying album Grubby Stories, by then he had expanded his sound slightly by using a minimal backing group. The roots of today’s anti-folk scene and artists like The Streets and Jamie T can be found in the work of Patrik Fitzgerald, who is owed a lot more than he is given credit for.
