As today is national poetry day, it seems an appropriate time to post this 1978 John Peel Session from the Bard of Salford; John Cooper Clarke. The accompanying pictures, were taken by me outside his rented room in Stevenage, where he moved during the 80’s to allegedly take drugs. (see sleeve notes of a Martin Hannett tribute CD) I was doing a fanzine at the time, and someone gave me his address, so I just called round to see if he was up for doing an interview, unfortunately he said he didn’t have time in the forseable future, due to commitments, apparently I was lucky to catch him in, he let me take a couple of pictures and that was that, and this is the Peel session.

  1. Nice pics Nuzz.

I remember feeling thoroughly depressed listening to 'Beasley Street' on Peel back in the day. But I guess that was the point of it.
