YOU COULDN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP.
Went to sign on today, after my last escapade, my partner told me not to “get into any trouble!” Anyway, I arrived well on time for my 10 minutes past 10 appointment, as I’d been told they were strict on time keeping and sometimes applied sanctions; as the bloke in front of me found out. He was a couple of minutes late for his appointment and was told he would have to come back later. Today I managed to find a seat and sat down to wait for my appointment, 10 past 10 arrived, 11 minutes past, 12, 13, 14, 15, I thought about the guy earlier who had been late, and what my partner had said, but when it got to 20 past 10 I thought Fuck this, and went to see one of the security guards, and explained the situation, off he went to get someone from the Job Centre to find out what was going on. 5 minutes later one of the advisors called me over and explained that the reason I’d been kept waiting was that there was no appointment for me today and my claim had been closed as I had failed to attend on 16th June, which as you and I know wasn’t the case. The advisor said not to worry as she had found the piece of paper with my signature on it that proved I did, and she would re-open my claim. Before I left I asked if there would be any sanctions against the person who had kept me waiting today as a result of my claim being closed. The advisor said she didn’t think so, as it was probably a computer error; yeah whatever. I didn’t bother to argue as my issue had been resolved and the advisor had been apologetic about it all, plus I didn’t fancy going back and telling my partner I’d got into trouble again, but still; a bit of a poor show if you ask me. One law for them and all that.

‘………and went to see one of the security guards’.
Had to laugh at that one Nuzz (!).
Seriously, I feel for you. I spent many years working in the voluntary sector, and part of that work involved liaising with the Benefits Agency on behalf of homeless clients. Total nightmare as you can imagine. Especially dealing with the claims for people who move around a lot or have been NFA (No fixed abode).
I’m sure there are some that mean well, but you can’t help ending up with the impression that a lot of the staff are being deliberately obstructive. Well done for keeping your cool though.
Pecker up mate.
When I was younger I always believed that it was possible to beat the system it isn't you either have to leave the system or become part of it, about a year and a half ago I was in the same position as you Nuzz only I was unable to work because of a medical condition and had to claim incapacity benefit only the numpty who filed my form put down invalidity benefit what a nightmare, I received 4 letters telling me my benefit was changing to £0.00 what a fucking waste of time and I wolud receive a new benefit because of the mistake that occurred when the new payment arrived the amount was identical, beauracracy what a joke!
Doesn't take a lot to get you off the books does it? I daresay that your 'non-attendance' on the 16th would've had you off the jobless total faster than you can say "Gas mark 5? Your cooking those figures mate".
Snigger snigger, giggle giggle...
HaHaHaHaHa...
Sorry...
I know I shouldn't, but...
Oh shit ! I can't type for laughing...
Sorry...
You're right... You couldn't make it up...
And everyone else's comments were...
Horrifying ?
I think that's the right word.
Stay cool, dude... We need you.
Get on the sick Nuzz!
1)Change your Doctor if his crap
2)Go to Doctor and tell him/her you are depressed and get a sick-note. Immediately takes away the Job Centre!
3)Repeat step 2 for next 6 months
4)Hey presto, your money has gone up
5)After a while,you wont need a sick note.
6) Go to DSS Medical every 1/2/3 years and blag it
7) While doing any work on side, don't get caught!
8) Or alternately, live the life on riley
9) After a 3/4/5 years, develop chronic back pain as well as depression or maybe alcoholism. Its good back up (pardon the pun) to stay on the sick
10) Emigrate to Glasgow
yeah I know anon, oh! the irony, still, they aint just there as ornaments, felt sorry for this one, what I didn't put in the post was that before I asked him, I heard him telling some guy off for swearing while talking to his friend, the guys response was classic "nah, fuck off!" and that was that security guard did nothing, mind you I didn't hear the guy swearing again....like I said You Couldn't Make This Shit Up. The thing is like you marky I've had previous experience with the dole, 10 years ago, and things aren't still the same, their worse. Too right Highlander, I could smell those figures cooking while I was kept waiting. You've got have a laugh Chris else you'll go mad, mind you the asylums being run by lunatics, so looks like were the sane ones...I think. Like yer plan anon, but...I've got a mate and he's been on the long term sick and he's been getting some right shit of them. Glasgow I like the sound of that, at least the one at the top in Scotland had the decency to stand down after being discovered as another corrupt politician just like we know they all are. Thanks good people folk.
