THE FALL - BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert (CD-Rip)
Probably one of the most consistently inconsistent but brilliant bands to emerge from the 1977 ‘Punk Rock Scene‘, also one of the most prolific; with numerous John Peel sessions and albums on numerous record labels under their belt, I say their, but the reality is The Fall = Front man Mark E Smith who’s volatile nature has meant the band has also had numerous line-ups over the years, I think there’s a book out were the author has tracked down many of the bands members over the years and spoken to them about their experiences in The Fall. The line-up on this here recording included Marks wife at the time Brix Smith, who gave the band a 60’s Garage Punk/Pop vibe with her keyboards. It was recorded at Nottingham Rock City in May 1987 for the BBC Radio One’s In Concert series. Enjoy!

With the exception of the first 3 or 4 singles,I hated this band with a passion for many years...until a couple of years ago. Since then,I play them often and have collected a multitude of their stuff. I can't believe I disliked them so much.
Definately the worst gig I've been to was the Fall in 82. They really were poor. Smithy with his back to the audience sat on a chair swigging the vodka, the band totally as disinterested. I think thats where my destestation with all things Fall came from.
I read Mark's autobiograghy (Renegades) last year. Its a great read and had me in stitches. Some of the stuff he comes out with about some the previous band members is really hilarious.
Anyway I was just about to download this until I realised I had it already but cheers anyway and sorry for waffling :-)
I can't help but like Mark E, for his anti-commercialism stance above anything else. This guy could've been a millionaire if he wanted to. And that quote from John Peel's cohort John Walters (RIP), something like- You must get them on the show, they're worse than Siouxie and the Banshees!
my favourite band. as john peel used to say: never a band has gave me so much joy as The Fall.
thanks a lot for this download.
check out my blog too on jesvscristvs.blogspot.com
cheers!
I have love this band since 'It's the new everything'. I remember the great gig they played at Bowes Lyon House in October 1983, featuring the fantastic EatY'self Fitter. Do you know if anyone recorded this set?
Martin Clabburn
