TO BE OR NOT TO BE.

Spend, Cut….Spend, Cut…..Spend, Cut….STUPID CUNTS! It needn’t be a choice between one or the other….My way or the highway? (to hell!) It’s about balance, and the world has always been unbalanced; with the pursuit for ideological power amongst the political ruling classes across the world. We are just pawns in their game of monopoly, where there’s not enough co-operation or collectivism.  A Greek tragedy is being played out on the world stage. The tragedy is that countries like Greece, Spain and Italy joined the Euro, where one size does not fit all, some countries economies are small, medium and large. Surely common sense dictates that no matter how many tourists visit, a small economy is never going to be able to compete and achieve the same economic results as a large economy, the only economic growth is in the pockets of the politicians and the bank accounts of big business leaders….The Chairmen of the bored, and I’m bored with all this recession business. Let Greece default on its payments and bring back the drachma, yes this will effect other countries, but it’s effecting them anyway, so rather than trying to fix something that can’t be repaired, why not try and build something new.  That is the question!

HEIL BORIS!

In Britain the Conservatives and Liberal Party both got their arses kicked by Labour in last weeks local council elections. A protest vote, where the biggest protest was that the turnout of voters was low, looks like people have had enough of all the political parties, and didn’t bother voting, for any of the above!

Going against the trend, Boris Johnson the Conservative Mayor of London won a second term of office. His success was put down to him being ‘charismatic’ dunno about that; a bumbling, mumbling, buffoon more like, some political pundits have been talking about Boris becoming Cameron’s successor as leader of the Conservative Party. What a scary thought….Boris Johnson being a potential British Prime Minister, what with all that charisma. Lets not forget that Hitler was charismatic, as are most dictators, it’s how they maintain their power, along with having a repressive state at their control. 

On the subject of dic(k)tators, Tony Blair is talking about returning to British politics! The most corrupt Prime Minister ever, with his war based on lies, dodgy deals in the desert for oil and his Britpop brand of national champagne socialism, things were gonna get better, and indeed they did for him and his smug self serving New Labours MP’s maxing out on their expenses at our expense. New Labour failings has resulted in an unelected coalition, whose failings will see people turning to the Labour Party again, or a turn to the Right, such is the world of politicks. They all need their arses kicked!

As a footnote to the above,which was gonna be posted yesterday. I read this morning that the LibCon’s are gonna have a draft of Right Wing policies in the Queens speech on Wednesday, among them a reduction in workers rights, powers to monitor the peoples phone calls, emails and internet use and the setting up of a new crime agency rather like the SS F.B.I

Like I said Boris Johnson, Prime Minister; a Blond Haired Blue eyed boy in charge of a political system with more powers to snoop than the stazi had, and more laws that take away peoples freedoms than any British State has ever had, and why? In the name of freedom from terror. The terror that Blair unleashed with his lies. What about the terror within! We will never be free from that so long has the left and right are merging into one big totalitarian monster that looks like an inbred cross between Boris Johnson and Tony Blair!

All the above is set against a backdrop of elections in other European countries; Greek voters have turned againts the main parties, and there is no winnng party in their national elections. In France, the people have voted for a Socialist President. All across Europe economies are fucked, and the people have had enough of cuts in public spending. These are dangerous times. Giving the public what they want comes at a cost, are the people prepared to pay the price when they don’t know the cost? Our leaders don’t care, they just want the best deal for themselves, no matter what party they stand for!

A FANTASY FESTIVAL

It’s coming up for Festival season. A time when all ‘music lovers’ and weekend rebels pay an extortionate amount of money to camp in a field and watch their favourite bands, while eating and drinking overpriced cold food and warm beer.

This year I’ve decided to hold my own festival, happening in a field in my mind somewhere, sometime in the summer. The line up at the time of writing is:

There are a few reformations in the line up. I don’t usualy do reformations, but as it’s a festival. Sadly there are no resurections, so no Johnny Thunders, Joe Strummer or Nikki Sudden, but on the subject of resurrections, it’ll be the only festival the Stone Roses aren’t playing this summer!

One Day A Real Rain Will Come!

Two weeks since my last post, and it hasn’t stopped raining. Like I said they’re making it rain. The water is running dry, what nature can’t provide scientists will create. Lets look at a couple of things. 1) Even though April is known for its rain, April showers and all that, It’s been the wettest April for a hundred years. 2) It has only been raining in the last two weeks of April, before that half the country was declared a drought zone , now the same areas have been issued with flood alert warnings. In my last post I said when the Chinese tried to ‘seed’ the clouds to make it rain, they got it wrong and it snowed, well…. When it started to rain were I live, hailstones fell and didn’t melt for about four hours.

I’m sure the rain will stop before The Olympics start cos they ain’t gonna want their parade to be pissed upon, they’ve got enough to worry about with the planned occupations and protests.

At least they’ll be able to shoot the terrorists from the roofs of tower blocks. It’s gonna deter them….FUCK OFF! If there’s gonna be an attack on the games, it’s gonna be every bit as planned as the authorities defence of the games. We’ll just have to watch and wait, and there’s gonna be plenty of opportunity to watch with wall-to-wall coverage planned on the BBC, we are gonna be a nation brainwashed….The Games are great, The Games are great, The Games are great. No they are not, they are a waste of money for a country that can ill afford it. It’s just gonna be one patriotic flag fest, one of many we’re gonna have to endure what with the Queens Diamond Jubilee, who needs terrorists when we’re gonna be under siege by our own armed forces.

Where has the water gone?

As I sit and type this, musicians from across Africa are gathering to record a charity single for the people of Britain, where half of the country are living in a drought, but seriously what is the solution?

Any water shortages are down to lack of long term investment by the water companies in the infrastructure of old and leaking pipes and too much short term investment in their own pockets.

As I sit and type this, I wonder if the Great British powers that be are looking at some sort of long term weather modification, which is when chemicals are put into the atmosphere to react with the natural conditions in order to create rain.  The Chinese tried it a few years ago when Beijing was suffering from a drought, only problem was that they got the quantities wrong and it snowed instead.  Think I’m joking….Check it out!

No Work Today.

Bank Holidays are bad for the economy so a financial think tank have said. Well fuck ’em and fuck their economy more Bank Holidays that’s what I say. Bankers and Big Business have been holidaying at our expense for years, time they fucking paid.

Syria’s back in the news, not that it ever went away it’s just they; the media chose to stop telling us about what was happening there recently, dead children and mortar attacks were put on hold when the price of hot pies was under attack and the oil was gonna run out, oil that comes from places like Syria in the Middle East were they are fighting for freedoms we take for granted.

Still it’s all relevant I suppose, why should anyone care about the bloodshed thousands of miles away when any attacks on our freedoms don’t involve rocket launchers, just words and legislation that people don’t question so long as they’ve got pies to eat and petrol for their cars they’re happy in their ignorance and stupidity, blinded by the lies, the propaganda, the advertisements, and their dreams of a celebrity lifestyle.

Checking the NPW site statistics the other day, I noticed I’d received a large amount of hits from an anti-Obama site, thought I’d check out to see why? Found nothing except a load of Right Wing Republikan Rhetoric saying Obama was the devil and how he’s ruining America???? Yeah right, and the Republicans are gonna do any better, I doubt it, because whatever countries they run politicians across the globe just serve their global free market self interests.

Americans need to vote with their hearts, because their minds have been brainwashed, just like all the rest of the citizens of the ‘free world’

Over in Britain it would seem that London’s Police Force are still racist. The murder of Stephen Lawrence and the eventual conviction of the racist scum who carried it out, still means nothing if the Police force isn’t whiter than white when it comes to the issue of racism. Suspects being racially abused and black policemen leaving because they have suffered racism. Still at least the racists in the force don’t discriminate between the goodies and the baddies, they’re all targets to blind prejudice by racist officers who abuse their power.

On the subject of abusing power, there’s been political talk recently in the run up to The Olympics of banning protests, further fuelled by the recent disruption of the Oxford Cambridge boat race by a swimmer protesting about Britain’s elitist society. Then there was the cyber attack on the governments Home Office website by protest group anonymous, more have been promised. It looks like it could be game on for a summer of civil and uncivil disobedience, which makes it worrying for our freedoms, because our leaders will do anything to protect them, even if it means taking them away in the name of national security.

Will The London 2012 Olympic Legacy be a one-party police state born from an illusion that our freedoms and security are under attack by terrorists, because anyone that goes against the current thoughts and values and takes to the streets to protest could find them self labelled as being a terrorist.

NIGHT OF TREASON - Gentlemen and Hooligans

These guys registered as a blip on my radar a few years back, but disappeared again, as I’m not a big fan of covers bands, and that’s how NIGHT FOR TREASON started out seven years ago, playing punk rock classics. It would appear this was time well spent, as they have evolved into something much more, their own numbers sound like the best of the class of 76/77 and the second wave of punk bands from the early 80’s put through a blender with a splash of power/pop. In other words their tunes are Doc Martin stomping sing-along chorus chanting guitar lickin’ little gems delivered with power and passion,  that shine brightly in the darkness. Get over to their Reverbnation page where you’ll find their 2009 four track Gentlemen and Hooligans EP available to download for free!  Their debut album Gentlemen and Hooligans is out sometime this month, on their own Night Of Treason Records.

As Burma moves closer to freedom with the leader of the National League For Democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi winning a seat in the country’s parliament.  Britain moves closer toward a totalitarian state with our present unelected coalition government planning to revive the Labour party’s idea of expanding surveillance on peoples internet use, all in the name of national security, and get this….The Tax Payer Pays!  What price un-freedom? £2 Billion!!

This post  is a bit overdue, I’ve been having problems uploading to my Media Fire account, which is interesting, as I’ve heard of several blogs which have had their accounts shut down, this hasn’t happened here yet….but….perhaps it’s only a matter of time in the post Megaupload ‘illegal download’ purge by the US Film Industry before it becomes harder for bloggers to share music. I’ve given up on Media Fire and have started using 4Shared again, any problems with accessing files, leave a comment.  Anyway today’s music comes from The Bermondsey Joyriders, and their incendiary brand of South London rock’n’roll blues, here they are joined for some spoken word narration by 60’s counter culture legend John Sinclair; the man who injected the politics into the MC5.  Until recently it looked like part of point 10 of John Sinclair’s White Panther Party program; Free Music, Free Culture and Free Media had thanks to the Free Technology of the internet had been achieved, but as mentioned earlier it looks like this freedom is under attack, but hey ho lets go, and keep on keeping on with songs in our hearts to shake the city walls.  Noise and Revolution, The Bermondsey Joyriders second album, which also features John Sinclair,is due out sometime this year could be just one of those records judging by these five tracks recorded at the 100 Club in May last year, so if you want any loud Rock’n’Roll, you know what to do!

Recent changes in Planning Laws, (more shit that got forgotten about  in the pasty and petrol panic.) could see Britain's green and pleasant lands; our countryside! Disappear for ever!! Do the people care? A recent survey found that young people today  are ‘disengaged from nature’  They know more about McDonald's than Magpies.  Perhaps there’s a smart phone App that can get them reconnected.

What the fuck is going on?  Are the British people so fucking stupid that they can’t see what is really going on, well judging by events over the last week the answer is….Yes!

I mean the budget….The main talking point in the media seems to have been the proposed tax on hot pies and pasties.

Never mind about the increase in postage stamps, which is another nail in the coffin of the Royal Mail, the government hammered another one in recently by announcing that they will be buying up The Royal Mail pension funds that aren’t due to mature for another 30+ years, and use the money for other investments.  Lets hope that when the time comes to pay out the moneys still there, I wouldn’t bank on it.  I always thought that that wasn’t the best way to handle debt; borrowing from Peter to pay Paul as it’s called, but hey what do I know?  Well I know that people are selfish and stupid, from the top to the bottom.  Politicians preach to the people that we’re all in this together. Well ‘this’ is what they and the media have created. I mean…. announcing to the nation that there was going to be a tanker drivers strike and that people should stock up on supplies, this was no mistake on their part it was a planned exercise in social control, and a mindless mass of people fell for it hook line and sinkers, and guess what….they panicked and created a shortage by buying more than they needed.  Selfish stupid bastards!

Funny that since the petrol panic sales of fuel went up 81%, just before the end of the financial year,  when the extra fuel duty might come in handy and make the economy look a bit better than it would have.

I dread to think how people would react if the shit really came down after say some thermo-chemical terrorist attack, or if/when there’s a major water shortage, this year some parts of Britain have been declared as drought areas, and its not even the Olympic and Diamond Jubilee summer yet.

Pasties and Petrol have just been distractions from the bigger picture, our media may be described as ’free’ but they blackout the ‘real’ news by creating stories out of some things, and ignoring other stuff.  

I mean what’s going on in Syria?  Has all the fighting stopped for a religious holiday or is it still going on?  I haven’t seen much coverage in the media about it, what about Iran and their nuclear weapons caper able of hitting London, still the extra police on the streets for the Olympics and Diamond jubilee celebrations should do the trick, and the changes to Sunday trading laws should keep the people’s consuming habit happy, and just think of how good the extra trade is gonna be for the economy, that’s if the rocket launchers on Blackheath and the fighter planes in the skies don’t scare the tourists and sports fans away.   

The Branded Gentry.

I HATE QUILTED JACKETS! These items of clothing seem to have become the fashion in recent years. The great unwashed have been sold a slice of country life; Barbour styled quilted jackets,
something for the youth to wear as they walk through their Council Estate on the way to the drive by shooting party! In sweet suburbia the aspirational working classes dress like lords and ladies of the manor as they tend to the gardens of their ex-council house castles, like fat people wearing tracksuits.

We go along in our own little bubbles, living our lives in little boxes, content with not bursting and breaking out into a world that is ours, the majority seem content with being blown about and kicked around by the people we have allowed to rule the world with their projects of capital and property.
Feelings of greed and envy keep the people fighting and failing to reach fulfilment, because their life isn’t like the life they have been sold and told they could have. Fear causes failure; people are failing to see what is in front of their eyes because they fear the unknown. It’s always been this way, there is no other way. No there isn’t if people don’t look for one! They might be happy living with the shit that’s being created, but I’m sick of it all and getting sicker each day with the sickness that keeps spreading the endless consumption of things and stuff the continuous upgrading of the goods, faster is better small is the new large, but it’s the same old shit no matter how much it sparkles, on the neon hoardings and the glossy magazine pages.
We need to look to our brothers and sisters across the world fighting for freedoms we take for granted and then give away to the state. The people on the streets with their flags, covered faces and firebombs. In Greece the birthplace of democracy, were the people are being made to pay and pay for their politicians failings. This surely is a sign that their neo liberal globalised Western Capitalist democracy is a failing project, it cannot go on for much longer. Their New Europe parade is just a charade the rich countries stay rich and the poor countries stay poor and in debt to the rich nations.
Then there’s Africa….The Birth place of human life, a place that along with the Far East made Europe and America rich from slaves, minerals and textiles. Parts of Africa are dying a slow death through drought, famine and civil war, they have been for decades. The world watches as it always has with its charity feeding corrupt dictators, it’ll take more than a Band Aid to heal the wounds.

What Was I Thinking ?

Straight from the brain to the blank page. Very little thought is going into this post, I’m just typing as I go along, writing down words that come into my head, depending on what I’m thinking about while I sit in front of my PC. This post could be as long or as short as the time I spend thinking about whatever I’m thinking about, which is….not a lot really, well that’s not strictly true because I’m now thinking about what I’m not thinking about, and whether I should be thinking about something to be thinking about Thinking about thinking, now that’s a thought!

Listening to This Is Real and Gimme The Sign, I’d say….”No” cos it sounds like the fire is still there and hopefully in the fickle world that is the music industry it will burn brightly in 2012. Noel Gallagher may well have said “ Don’t put your life in the hands of a Rock’n’Roll band” but who listens to the grown ups, and if the kids of today are gonna take a band to their hearts and minds then why not let it be The Enemy, as it least they have something to say for and to the kids, and they say it and play it in away that those who grew up during the punk and post punk rock times may well enjoy as well. But hey don’t just take this old fuckers word for it see if the signs are real here! Their new album Streets In The Sky is due out soon.

Sunday Shit!

Great British justice on trial in secret courts. Behind closed doors our freedom is under attack, while across the world people are under attack for wanting their freedom. We the people need to be fighting for both!
The Secret Services secrets will remain secret in an open and shut cases full of lies and failures. These people are as powerful as the politicians in controlling our lives, with their miss information and fabrication of the facts, so when David Cameron announces that Iran are developing nuclear weapons that are caper able of attacking London (I wonder how long they’ll take to reach their target….45minutes maybe) Maaan! that’ll be some Olympic flame if Cameron and his cohorts have got their facts right, if they haven’t it’ll see more of our freedoms burnt at the alter of democracy, where those in power hide the truth from those they serve and those that serve for them. Every dead soldier is more blood on the hands of the past, present and future politicians, their truth is; that this is the price to pay to ensure our freedom and the freedom and democracy of the people in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya etc. Illegal wars being fought on a battlefield of lies, inconvenient truths they’d rather we didn’t know about.
Thanks to the internet the truth is out there in posts on Twitter, Facebook, You Tube etc, some may say this is just as distorted as their truth. Well it has been said that in war, the first casualty is the truth, so the reality is that this whole war on terror has been bullshit from start to….wait up it hasn’t finished, and it never will as it’s a great weapon for social control in the so called ‘free world’ of Western Liberal Democracy.
Where people are innocent until proved guilty, then when they are found guilty they can appeal on the grounds of ’human rights’ which in the case of terrorists provides ammunition for the media in their battle for propaganda, and gives our leaders a reason to want to hide the truth into these cases, I mean it wouldn’t look good if it came to light that Britain gained vital information through torture would it, I mean that would make us worse than ’the enemy’ the people our leaders are trying to civilise in their new crusade, which means our freedom and democracy is reduced in order to secure future freedoms in parts of the world that are needed not just as new markets for the Western capitalist industrial military machine, but also to maintain the supply of the oil that powers the machine. And that’s the fuckin’ truth! I rest my case.

Better still in the power pop punk stakes is ROBBIE CROSS, with his chugging and catchy racket. There’s some ‘Militant Rock’n’Roll' from KING CHEETAH and their spiky cutting post punk guitars. For THE BRAM STOKERS think The Jam and Buzzcocks, and forget The Ordinary Boys. TAURUS TRAKKER are produced by Mick Jones and are reminiscent of both The Clash and Carbon/ Silicon. THE DYNAMITE PUSSY CLUB Get under the groove with their funk soul garage punk. STEVE HOOKER treats us to some Southend Delta Swamp Blues, and THE METEORS give us a blast of their mutant rockabilly which refuses to die. Spain’s ALVA veer towards the metal end of the scale. PUSSYCAT AND THE DIRTY JOHNSONS come from Basingstoke but sound like their from the streets of New York City and LOADED 44 serve up some glorious catch old school female fronted punk rawk. Once again there’s something for every one on this compilation. Smash It Up! Here!!

From the frozen children in Afghanistan to the dead bodies in Syria; the world watches in high definition clarity how can we ignore the suffering when it’s beamed live and direct to our front rooms.
Obama watched Bin Laden’s execution don’t tell me he hasn’t seen the Syrian slaughter. What mixed up morals and values people have. How much longer are we gonna take their hypocrisy and double standards
Western Governments get involved in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya with their democracy and collateral damage, yet with what is going on in Syria they sit back and do nothing , will a dead western journalist blown up while trying to find her shoes see bombs from the air or boots on the ground ? Well that depends if nations are united in defiance against the Syrian slaughter, which they’re not, well most of them are, all except Russia and China, which means no agreement and it seems no one wants to upset Russia or China; the Old Cold Enemies, who have come into the warm with business dealings with countries such as Syria as well as the rest of the world, and does the rest of the world want to upset Russia and China by taking action against their ‘friend’ Syria, especially in the present economic climate who wants to stop doing business with the oligarchs, lets not forget that Russia controls gas supplies to Europe. So no-one does anything they sit back and carry on watching.

Too Late To Delete!

It’s a bit too late to worry about privacy on the internet. How naive people must have been if they thought that personal details would remain personal, in a place were everyone knows everything about everyone, such are the joys of social media and its twitter, twatter! Big business has becomes big brother, watching over peoples spending habits and their lifestyles and then targeting them with personalised pop up adverts while they go about their business on Facebook.
So people don’t come complaining to me in a few years time when they follow your every movement; because you’ve bought into it all with yer GPS Sat Nav App gadgets. You know where you are because they know where, and who you are!

In response to the present euro crisis a German official was recently quoted as saying it’s “A terrible mistake, we have invented a machine from hell we cannot turn off.” Sounds pretty much like what Karl Marx said in 1872 about Bourgeois capitalist society being like “A sorcerer, who is no longer able to control the powers of the nether world, whom he has called up by his spells.” Lessons from history get forgotten. THE ONLY ONES - XFM Session 28/5/07

The Only Ones; a band who back in the day were too hippy for the punks and too punk for the hippies. Their torch burnt bright in the eyes of the critics and their cult following. The Only Ones blazed their own Rock’n’Roll trail before drug and record company problems saw the band fall apart in the early 80’s. Their influence however was to last for a lot longer; spanning the post punk, Brit pop and grunge years, to the present day. The band reformed in 2007 this session is from May that year, nothing new, just 3 Only Ones classics: The Whole Of The Law, The Big Sleep and Another Girl Another Planet, a song which has kept Peter Perrett in supplies over the years. Time has not lost what the Only Ones had, they’ve still got it. Enjoy! If yer an Only Ones ‘fan’ then when you’ve finished downloading this, you’d be a fool if you didn’t take a trip to Noise Addiction blogspot where you’ll find a brilliant live soundboard recording from 1979 in Minneapolis USA, and an audience recording from Oscars in Liverpool UK from the same years, I’m sure there’s also a compilation of Peter Perrett and The One Radio Sessions there as well.

Rock'n'Roll and Football!

The following post is the basis of something I’m writing for a blog called Journeyman & Co. which specialises in writings about the beautiful game. The finished and expanded article should be posted there in a few days time, or whenever I get my arse in gear to complete it.

Without wanting to sound like some ‘football fascist’ Has the influx of players from across the world had e detrimental effect on the English game? It’s made a lot of money, but costs a lot of money, just ask Glasgow Rangers.
Big business SkyTV Football has sold out, and it’s the fans that pay the price, and they do pay a price £30 tickets, merchandise; with ever changing team strips etc What do they get in return….players whose team loyalty is based on the size of their transfer fee.
Hard for up and coming English players to play for top flight teams. Are there many English players playing football abroad? Home grown talent goes unnoticed in a global market, so when it comes to the International Squad England has a small pool of experienced players to pick from, as many young players don’t get the chance to gain the experience at club level because teams are made up of the highly paid new celebrity signining, interestingly England’s 2010 World Cup squad was the oldest ever, with the average age being 28.something.
Racism in football has come a long way since the days of Ku-Klux-Kan hoods on the terraces of Millwall in the 1970’s to banana skins being thrown at John Barnes in the 80’s, but it’s still got a way to go. Now it seems to be the players with their racist rants, what a shinning example to the yoof John Terry is, he should have stepped down as captain as soon as he was charged, and as to his guilt or innocence, well live TV can’t lie, or can it?
Stuart Pearce for England captain, he’s got good musical taste, likes The Clash. Talking of music lets not forget some of those great or not so great football songs; Chas and Dave and Tottenham Hotspurs, New Order and The England Squad. Hoddle and Waddle anyone, Kevin Keegan, Cockney Rejects.

Travelling on the bus down Selfish Street, on the way to Intolerance Road. The person in the seat behind me is eating loudly….crunch, crunch, crunch. Someone a few seats down has stunk the bus out with a BigKac Meal. There’s someone coughing and spluttering and clearing their throat out, and the person next to me, well their personal music machine is pretty unpersonable buzzing away loudly, someone else is having a mobile phone conversation, and I’m sitting here ready to explode……..FOR FUCKS SAKE! What’s up with people, they’ve no time for anything, breakfast, lunch everything on the go, everything needs to be done instantly, no one seems to stop and think about anything, or anyone other then themselves, no one has anytime to just be….it’s all do, do! Time to ring the bell and stop the bus, I’m getting off!

The 2012 London Olympics....What a joke! but it's no laughing matter!!

Olympic Track and Field sports….Disc us. Shot putt, what a lot of balls, and Javelin, whats the point?
Just injecting a bit of humour for the people of East London, who if you believe surveys and statistics are the unhappiest people in Britain, as it’s the unhappiest place to live in. How can that be….with The Olympics being held in their manor, mind you, I’m not happy about the Olympics, and I don‘t live in East London. London 2012; a waste of Tax payers money, dodgy tickets to corporate sponsors while locals can’t afford a ticket even if they could find one to buy, secrecy behind how many tickets are actually available for ’the people’ then there’s the legacy of the athletes village being an affordable housing development of luxury flats, then there’s the thousands of people descending on the streets of East London for two weeks, and that’s just the security.

MC5 - Live @ Radio Bremen TV Studios 1972 (MP3)

I watched a program on BBC4 the other week, it was about the British invasion of the USA by Rock bands in the late 60’s and early 70’s, bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull. At one point it was mentioned that the reason these bands were so successful in the US, was because there was nothing to compare to these bands in America….wait up I thought, yes there was and they were called the MC5, and the majority of kids in America were never really given the chance to appreciate them. Despite releasing three major label albums, it was only after their demise that the MC5 were truly recognised for their greatness, ironically it was the British and European kids that took ‘em to their hearts.
With their reactionary and revolutionary stance the kids of the 60’s underground counter culture couldn’t get enough of their explosive mix of Blues, Soul and Rock’n’Roll. When the announced they wanted to “Kick out the jams mutha fuckers” the last couple of words shook the foundations of Americas music biz, and as for their allegiance to manager John Sinclair’s White Panther party, well that was never gonna win the hearts of the mainstream music moguls and the mass market, neither were songs about fire bombs exploding all around. They’d rather kids were listening to songs about stairways to heaven and other corporate cock sucking rock and southern boogie which filled stadiums and shifted the dollars. Lack of sales saw the band dropped by record labels, hard drug use began to take its toll, and things began to fall apart in the MC5 camp. By 1970 the underground had been buried and turned into commodity, with hippies and freaks for sale in San Francisco, where flowers were replaced by needles in your hair. The powers that be saw the power that could be and killed it. Music was revolution and that’s what scared the man.
By early 1972, when this was recorded, the MC5 had become the MC4, with Steve Moorhouse replacing original Bassist Michael Davis, who left the band because of ‘Drug problems’ the main problem being Michael had got busted at the airport before leaving America, customs found his ’works’ and detained him, which meant he missed the flight and subsequently an important gig in London. By the end of 1972 the 5 had become 2 with just Wayne Kramer and Fred Smith flying the flag.
(See previous MC5 Kick Copenhagen post.) Anyway here’s a blast of the MC5 recorded in Feb/March 1972 at Radio Bremens TV studio in Germany. I dunno if this is a complete recording as unfortunately the final number Black To Comm falls apart and fades out, Kick Out The Jams, Ramblin’ Rose, Motor City Is Burning and Tonite are all complete, as a little bonus I’ve included an alternate version of Kick Out The Jams from the same session.
I watched a bit of MTV the other day, and was struck that after forty years one of the MC5 slogans appeared to have come true as several videos appeared to show that there is “Dope, Guns and fucking in the streets” How times have changed mutha fuckers!

THE CLASH - Lost Treasures

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything by The Clash, time to change that with this mighty fine
collection of ….Lost Treasures i.e. various re-mixes, alternate versions and rarities by the greatest Rock’n’Roll band ever, a band that weren’t afraid to explore new musical landscapes and experiment with different sounds and vibes, with Mikey Dread and Futura 2000, or just be themselves, helping out their friend and music writer Kris Needs and his band Vice Creams, by providing the musical accompaniment on the single Danger Love, giving Rock Against Racism an alternative version of White Man In Hammersmith Palais to put on a RAR compilation album Then there’s the time they backed infamous vice queen Janie Jones as The Lash. This collection contains all those and more, it shows just how on top and ahead of the game they were. Some of their experimentations may have pissed of the punk purists and made them wanna puke, but if punk was about pushing the boundaries then The Clash were true punks from the start to the finish. The only band that mattered! and in the age of bands that say nothing and do even less they still do!! ENJOY!

Some Sunday Shit!

Searching for meanings and understanding. Looking for answers to questions that haven’t been asked, and ignoring ones that have.

Religion says there is a god. Science says there is no god; but enables people to play at being god. Religion causes wars and science builds the weapons to fight the wars.
Economics keep the world going round, and Politics is the fight by leaders of nations to control the people.
IMHO Psychology and Sociology provide a better understanding of how and why the world is the way it is, after all the world is a collection of people living in different societies, we need to embrace the difference and not fight against it. We need to be coming together, but the politicians are intent on driving people apart, and the economists want it to be all about the money, money! These attitudes have shaped and moulded peoples minds and the societies they live in.

Science prolongs existence with life support machines that ultimately end in death, that’s if you live in a country that can afford such equipment.
Science keeps people staring at the screens of mobile phones, laptops and TV’s . Religion gives guidelines on what to do to reach the afterlife, when there is no afterlife, just an afterbirth and slow death.
The cure for cancer, now that would be something to benefit the common good, but no….It all comes down to cash and who can afford the life prolonging drugs, some health authorities can afford treatment for patients and others can’t. The life or death lottery. Its either Buy, Buy, or Bye, Bye.

Science, the new Rock’n’Roll. You can stare at the stars, but there are no aliens waiting to land. If there were I’m sure they’d be looking down thinking….What the Fuck! With so much knowledge in the world why are people so stupid, to blindly follow what the politicians, economists, scientists and religious leaders tell them. It’s all a big lie wrapped up in pages of theories and thesis that mean nothing to the person in the street, keep the people stoopid and they wont ask questions that need to be asked, like why is half the world starving while the half live in luxury, politics and economics is the answer to that one. If knowledge is power and there’s so much knowledge out there, then why do people feel powerless? Once again the politicians and economists can answer that! It’s in their interest to keep us dumb and dumfounded, it justifies their existence. Religion proclaims to offer comfort and protection to the hopeless and powerless, all it provides are dogmas and ‘good books’ to follow. It’s all a distraction, different ways of looking at the world that change nothing.

Evolution is no longer a natural process, Science, Economics and Politics have corrupted it and now control the process, and call it Progress!
People are unable to think for themselves without consulting Google first, and then confirming their opinion with that of their Facebook friends.

We are insular and insincere with our self importance.
The motor car once a symbol of freedom now stands still for hours confined in a traffic jam on the M25, because another driver thought they were the only road user that mattered and crashed their car because they were taking no notice of other motorists. Still at least science can save their life, or is it worth saving, I mean would the world miss another selfish bastard.

The Scienceisation of Society.
Professor Brian Cox is the devil; with his scientific sermons. A smiley, smiley Satan, smug with the satisfaction and knowledge that he’s selling ideas that a few years ago no-one would have bought into. Another market has been created a world of telescopes, microscopes and gadgets, all available in your local Tesco’s Express.
I heard on some TV program people talking about the science of music….For fuck sake! I don’t want or need to know how or why the brain responds the way it does to beats and rhythms. Then there’s cooking, Heston Bloomingtwat doesn’t just cook, he uses science to create new methods; I mean who wants to use an oven when you can use a blow torch and dry ice.

POWER OF THE PENDULUM - Demo Tape (1989)

Today’s musical offering might have limited appeal, as you won’t find the name POWER OF THE PENDULUM in you book of musical who’s who, but so fuckin’ what! Hopefully some of you good people will take a chance on this, I mean there’s always the delete command if it aint your bag. So then, what are you gonna get for yer time and effort. Well this five track demo is what can only be described as stoner goth’n’roll, this is drug music an acid trip of a listen that lyrically and musically takes you to places deeper and darker than the pubs and bong smoke filed bedrooms of Stevenage in the year of 1989. To describe The Pendulum as sounding like The Fields of The Nephilim or The Sisters of Mercy would be lazy and also not a 100% true, yeah there is a flavour of gothic gloom amongst the pumping pounding bass and haunting spine tingling rock riff licking guitars, but then there’s even a hint of Pink Floyd and AC/DC in the mix. Why back in the day the music biz didn’t pick up on these guys is not just beyond me, but also an act of cultural criminality, by denying music lovers a chance to hear something pure, unadulterated and beautiful. Anyway hear what all the fuss wasn’t, but should have been about here!
A footnote, and a bit of trivia: Jem The Pendulums bass player is the brother of Paul and Nod from The Nephilim, and Rory guitarist and vocalist played in The Last Rites with Nod after The Nephilim had broken up.

The Stop Online Piracy Act has shut down Megaupload, one of the many filesharing sites used by people to share music and films, illegal downloading they call it. The US film industry hasn’t been happy for a long time about piracy, and shutting mega upload looks like the first salvo in a fight that’s gonna continue, I’m wondering whose gonna be next Rapidshare, 4 Shared? Who knows. My view on ‘illegal downloads’ well if it’s a big label, company that loses out, it’s just a case of wealth distribution, So Hollywood can go fuck itself in glorious surround sound 3D high definition. I found it quite funny that the Megaupload founders were living luxury filmstar lifestyles; big houses, big cars, obviously funded by their ‘ill gotten gains’ or like I said….wealth that has been redistributed. My heart goes out to those bloggers who used Megaupload to host their files, especially those specialising in live recordings/bootlegs and out of print stuff, innocent victims in someone elses battle. As for the sites that put up new releases and stuff that’s still available, well….I’d be lying if I said I have never downloaded anything that could be seen as being illegal, but then I’ve also gone out and bought stuff after previously getting it for free, anything I haven’t well that’s because it’s been shit. Who’s faults that? Not mine, perhapes if record and film companies didn’t produce and release so much shit that people don’t need and can’t afford then not so much stuff would be downloaded for free. It’s all about the money and not the art!

I imposed a news blackout recently. Got fed up of hearing/reading about the global economic problems that are being wrapped in flags of red, white and blue Olympic patriotism. We’ll see just how free and democratic Britain really is in six months time, when even before the start of the games and the Queens diamond jubilee celebrations the authorities are already arresting ’potential trouble makers’
Don’t wear a hoodie if yer going to the games, if you do don’t put it up. Don’t take a rucksack, if you do, don’t try and take anything out of it, or their fear and paranoia will have you on CCTV as a potential terrorist or trouble maker.

A Saudi Prince invests money in social network site Twitter, then within a week Twitter agree to remove tweets if a country requests it. Lets remember how important twitter was with spreading the word with last years Arab Uprisings. The Chinese move their finances to the City of London. The only human right is to make money in a world where freedom is easily bought, and everything is up for sale. The cost; dead and injured soldiers, rich greedy bankers, politicians on the take, media intrusion, racism and terrorism, where failure is financially rewarded A world with no real justice or fairness, just illusion, and delusion. A world with the haves and have nots, from nation states to their citizens. The Eurozone has collapsed because some of the smaller economies such as Greece haven’t been able to compete in the market, now it’s their people that are made to suffer. In Britain people are living in poverty because they can’t compete with the better educated in the job market, their ignorance is fed and fuelled by trash talking celebrity culture and the freedom to consume.

So Nick Clegg wants to Increase the income of the poor; so that they can spend more. Like flies round shit, as the swarm to the churches of consumption , spend our way out of a recession which we spent our way into; Instant Credit! Endless Debt! That’s life in the red, white, and blue. Green and pleasant lands of Ukplc. Still at least the Olympic Games and The Royal celebrations will Unite the Kingdom, well no….but that’s what the powers we let be are gonna try a do with these events, and show the world how Great we are.

CHELSEA - Live @ The Acklam Hall, London 1980

Todays post is another pilfered performance from a torrent site somewhere, sometime. Respect to the original uploader for putting this little artefact out there. This recording captures CHELSEA live underneath The Westway in Ladbroke Grove London at The Acklam Hall in November 1980, at a matinee gig with The Dark and Infa Riot (I think) It’s only a short set that was besieged by technical problems, I’ve left it all as it was, so it is what it is, which is a great slice of punk rock history. Word on the streets is that there’s a new Chelsea album planned for this year. In the mean time here's a blast from 30 years ago. Enjoy!

Here are some more scribbling that haven’t progressed any further than what’s written below.

After 18 years we finally see justice for Stephen Lawrence, but lets not fool ourselves that the stain of racism in our society has been scrubbed out, we only need to look at the recent behaviour of a couple of footballers, and a minority of fans. These may have been isolated incidents, but nothing is born in isolation.

So it’s aright to play god when it comes to cosmetic surgery and fertility treatment, but when it comes to assisted suicide it’s not alright. What a load of bollocks! Now I hear news that ‘our government’ recommend that people take a couple of days off a week from drinking, what a caring bunch of cunts they are. The nanny state needs its arse smacking. Looks like the elderly know the pain in store for them in the future and have decided to drink themselves to death, as over the last 10 years the biggest increase, if we believe the(ir) figures, in alcohol related illness is in the 65+ age group, either that or it’s all the champagne socialists who got themselves rich quick over the last 10 years drinking to their success.

KILL THE ELDERLY! Survival of the fittest, or the richest. How much do we care? Millions are spent on keeping people alive, many of whom would rather be dead, but they are denied that choice by a society that cares about their pain yet prolongs it.

TITS OUT! Well it all depends on who fitted the faulty industrial strength silicon implants that have been in the news recently.
I have little sympathy for those had enlargements/reductions in an act of vanity for cosmetic purposes, you paid yer money you took yer chances, don’t expect the NHS to clean up the mess left by private medical firms. They breast get it sorted, no way should the tax payer pay for someone else’s mistakes. Who’s responsible? Ultimately PIP, who were the manufacturer of the faulty product, but what about the consumer? Supply and demand and all that. If people accepted imperfection then there would be no market for breast implants, other than for those having reconstructive surgery. If the NHS have used the product, then they share responsibility for purchasing the product, and need to put right the damage. Then there’s the authority that licensed it and said it was safe for the market. Aaaah! The beauty of Capitalism, when it all goes tits up it’s always the consumer that suffers!

As they build hope for the future they forget about the decay and despair in the present!
I mean look at this proposed High Speed Rail link, the present network isn’t exactly running smoothly, so they’re gonna carve up more countryside to build a new route that promises to be faster and better, until reality bites and it ends up becoming like the rest of the network; overcrowded with delays and cancellations. Road widening schemes do not reduce congestion, they just make more space for more congestion. Do we really need to spend millions just to get somewhere half an hour quicker? All this job creation it’s good for the economy rhetoric is just a case of the emperors new clothes. Isn’t it great isn’t it good….No it’s shit, just like the Millennium Dome was and what the Olympic legacy will turn out to be. The country’s skint and they’re spending our money on shit we don’t need.

THE VIBRATORS - Live and Energized in 2004.

Today’s musical offering was recorded at the legendary CBGB’S in New York sometime in 2004, and was ripped by someone from the live Energized DVD. I came across it somewhere on the net a while back when looking for any live Vibrators recordings, which are few and far between. Energized is an understatement the twenty two tracks here are fast, furious, frantic and on fire! All the old and new favourites are there. Pure Vibrators Mania?….Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! If you are into The Vibrators I recommend a trip to Noise Addiction Blogspot, were the wondrous Bat29 has four….yep that’s right four Vibrators live gigs up for grabs. There’s a couple from 1984 in France and Sweden, and a couple of more recent ones from Germany and Austria in 2009, but before you go….Get Energized here!

FIRST POST........of 2012!

History’s clock ticks over into 2012 another year over another begins, the past becomes the future when nothing is learned from the lessons of History. The world revolves but things stay the same. The only progress is scientific and technological, and that’s debatable when for example human thinking is left to a device such as a sat nav, we are surrendering our power of independent free thinking to social networks where every human action and interaction is related to a world of followers whose Blackberry/I Phone obsession is closer to an addiction.

I’ve never had a junkie walk right into me because they were to busy trying to shoot up! But I’ve lost count of the number of times people have banged into me when walking and texting, then there’s the mobile phone junkies I’ve walked into because they’ve suddenly stopped in front of me to answer a call. People seem to have no time to spare, everything needs to be instant, and done instantly.

Science fiction has become science fact! But where are the jet packs that Look and Learn magazine promised us? who needs a jet pack when you’ve got an I-Phone that you can talk to…..and that talks back!!!! This aint progress this is madness. I mean a few years ago If someone was jumping around waving their arms in front of a TV screen questions would have been asked about their sanity, but no, in the 21st Century this is entertainment courtesy of something called the Nintendo Wii, an aptly named product, cos they’re just taking the piss. If people wanna play tennis or dance why don’t they going and actually do it, rather than virtually doing it, why the need for a machine to facilitate such games and pass times.

In his 1891 essay The Soul Of Man Under Socialism Oscar Wilde believed that Machines would free humankind by doing the mundane jobs, now it seems to me that people have become slaves to machines, and are doing mundane jobs in order to pay for the latest must have all singing all dancing gadget to keep them entertained and enslaved. No one has forced people into their captivity, they have chosen their chains and paid for them. Capitalism needs technological progress in order to grow and expand into new markets, but does society really need all that science serves up? Wilde also thought machines would free up peoples time, giving them more scope for leisure time. In the noughties peoples leisure time is increasingly dominated and controlled by machines.

From The Industrial Revolution to the white heat of technology in the 1970’s progress has improved the quality of life in some areas, in others it hasn’t, it has just taken us down a road were it is acceptable to be watched over 24/7 by security cameras, were tracking devices are fitted to mobile phones and every electronic communication can be traced even when we thought they were erased. Technology drops remote controlled laser guided missiles on innocent civilians.

Fuck their future! The only way forwards is to go backwards. You might not be able to rewind history but if there’s gonna be a future, it needs to be OURSTORY!
