"OOOH.... JUST THIRTEEN"

Jimmy So vile

I've been slightly distracted recently by the exposure of national treasure Jimmy Saville as a trash 'child abuser'

No one has come out and defended him, all his former colleagues have, said they “heard the rumours” but knew nothing and did nothing.

The BBC, Compliant and complicit in the cover up, someone there needs to tell the truth about the past. They could have done something to stop it. Institutional.

Different times, different morals post 60's free love masculinity. People were still 'blacking' up on The Black and White Minstrel Show. There are no excuses!

Society reaps what it sows. Sex Drugs and Rock'n'Roll. Superstar DJ's, he wont have been the only one.

Why weren't concerns that were raised acted upon? The media was easily bought by his charitable stunts, when really he was just grooming and fooling the public.

Where's the truth? Dead and buried with all the lies.

Why wait until he's dead? Fear and shame kept his victims and accusers silent, and the ones that spoke out when he was still alive were silenced by walls of denial.

The dead can't defend themselves, but how can you defend the indefensible; the abuse of power. He was made to feel that he was untouchable, no questions asked.

Jimmy Saville.... Top Of The Pops, Top Of The Tots more-like.

The exposure of Jimmy Saville as a serial sex offender has confirmed something I've always thought; What a creepy looking weirdo, not the sort of bloke you'd ask to babysit your children.
Never judge a book by its cover, but sometimes something doesn't look, feel or sound right.

It would appear that no young women were safe from Jimmy Saville and his cigar; from teeny boppers to children in hospital, Jim was there with his cigar ready to fix it for them!

In reality, the Jimmy Saville story is just a small part of the bigger picture, in which the powerful abuse their power for their own ends, and to control others. Politicians, The Police, The Bosses, Business leaders, The Media. They are all guilty of abusing their power, and covering things up.

FUCK'EM ALL! (As Jimmy Saville would have said.)

JOHNNY THUNDERS *NEWS*

With the 35 year anniversary of Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers L.A.M.F approaching, (Mon Oct 3rd 1977, according to George Gimarc's Punk Diary book) those good folk at Jungle Records are gonna be releasing a 4 CD Box set! Here's an advanced press release from Jungle Records telling us all about it.

The Heartbreakers' 4-CD 'L.A.M.F.' - 'Definitive Version' box set.

Features:
* The original Track Records album restored!
* Pre-LAMF demos unearthed!
* Alternative mixes exposed!
* the '94 'lost mixes' version
* 44-page detailed booklet

A highlight of the box is a restored version of the original Track
Records album, which was universally condemned in 1977 for having a 'muddy mix' (caused by mastering errors) and led to the departure of drummer Jerry Nolan. Now, using modern audio restoration techniques, at last it sounds as it was intended with the 'mud' removed.

Another highlight is a disc with pre-'L.A.M.F.' demos from three
sessions in 1976 and 77, including previously unreleased tracks with
Richard Hell on bass.

A further disc has 21 alternative 'L.A.M.F.' mixes from the marathon
sessions at five different top London studios.

It also includes the hitherto definitive remade 'lost mixes' version,
re-compiled in 1994.

The package is accompanied by a comprehensive, 44-page booklet featuring a 'Making of 'L.A.M.F.'' timeline, an introduction by Thunders biographer Nina Antonia, plus guitarist Walter Lure's recollections of the Heartbreakers time gigging, recording and living in punk London from
1976-77.

Dunno how much this hit of Thunders is gonna cost , hopefully the deal will be under twenty quid. For the vinyl junkies there's a slab of 180g DMM cut vinyl in a revamped gatefold sleeve, Alongside this is a reissue of the expanded 'D.T.K. - live at the Speakeasy' album on purple vinyl (limited, numbered), and also a reissue for all three original 7" singles: - Chinese Rocks/Born To Lose, One Track Mind, and for the very first time, the exceedingly rare It's Not Enough 7". Vinyl LPs LAMF & DTK will be available at Jungle Records ebay shop next week.

"THE FUCKING CUNTS ARE TREATING US LIKE PRICKS!"

They try to distract us with stories in the media about a paedophile school teacher running away with a 15 year old pupil. The other month it was a lion loose in the Essex countryside.
The real truth lies buried in graves in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and on the streets of Madrid and Athens. Closer to home planned changes in employment law will make it easier and cheaper for bosses to get rid of employees., while Trade Unions plan to unite once again in protest about changes to pensions. Soon they're gonna start killing the badgers. Then there are the proposed changes to planning permission regulations which will see the green belt disappear under airport runways and extensions, high speed rail links and 'affordable housing'  England's green and pleasant lands is  gonna be a concrete countryside with nowhere for any animals to escape to or live in, except for the plebbs.
Just like the missing school girl we are being fucked, manipulated and lied to by the people in control!(that's if we let them!!!!)

COP KILLERS! / KILLER COPS!

In the week that two women police officers were killed in Manchester, the trial was taking place in London of the man accused of selling a gun to Mark Duggan, whose killing by the police sparked the August 2011 Riots. Evidence was given that this was the gun Mark Duggan was brandishing at the police before they shot him. The man on trial told the court that when he sold Mark the gun 15 minutes before the shooting it was wrapped up in a sock, but after the shooting there was no mention of a gun found on or near Mark Duggans body, never mind a sock. Conflicting evidence or a cover up! Remember ….Who killed Liddle Towers, Blair Peach, James Kelly, and Ian Tomlinson? The police did!

After the death of the two police women, there have been calls for arming the police and bringing back the death penalty. How about a return to British seventies Sweeney style policing, some “Honest guv, he fell down the stairs” police brutality, instead of the Go ahead punk make my day Ropo-Cop hi-vis militia style we've got now.
We couldn't trust the Police without guns, so how we can't trust them if they were all armed! and as for mis-carriages of justice, or stitch up cover ups, we only need to look back at Hillsborough and the Birmingham Six.
Police stop and search tactics have alienated whole sections of society, who see the police as an occupying force on the streets where there is no 'policing by consent'
Who killed the police? Harry Roberts, Raoul Mote, and Dale Cregan did!

It's all just law and disorder.

JOHNNY THUNDERS / NIKKI SUDDEN (Re-Posts)

Today’s music is a double header of re-posts; JOHNNY THUNDERS and NIKKI SUDDEN, it seemed fitting to put them both together in one post as they crossed paths in several ways. Johnny was always big influence on Nikki, both musically and stylistically. Nikki first met Johnny when The Heartbreakers were touring Britain in 1977, they then met up again when  Nikki interviewed Johnny for Zig Zag magazine in 1980, during the encounter they scored and took drugs together before swapping certain items of clothing with each other. Five years later on The Jacobites first tour of Germany in 1985, someone in the audience shouted to Nikki “You're Johnny Thunders in disguise” Nikki responded by gesturing toward Dave Kusworth and saying “and this is Keith.” The only time they came close to a musical collaboration, as far as I'm aware, was when Nikki recorded Johnny’s Have Faith, for a tribute CD, Again...This One's For J.o.h.n.n.y. (Thunders didn't play on it) that and the Thunders covers that Nikki often slipped into his live sets. Sadly both Nikki and Johnny are no longer with us, but their music and memories continue to not only live on but grow.

The Zig Zag interview can be found at Cactus Mouth Informer. Nikki's recollections of Johnny Thunders can be seen at White Trash Soul, and some more of Nikki's writings, about Johnny can be read at What A Nice Way To Turn 17.

You can't put your arms around a memory, but you can get your hands on JOHNNY THUNDERS – Live in Stevenage.... Here, and NIKKI SUDDEN's Lost In A Sea Of Scarves....there

Remember kids the drugs do work, but they can screw you up and could kill you!

Sunday Thinking

An Islam baiting video by Coptic religious fundamentalist Christians adds more fuel to the fire of the conflict in the Middle East, the 'war on terror' will never be won.
Attacks on Embassies and Western interests, demand a response from Obamas administration and in the build up to the US Elections, how he handles the situation could make or break his chance of re-election. Things happen for a reason, and it's all in the timing....remember Sept 11th?

The British Royal Family exposed for the pricks and tits they are. First Prince Harry was caught with his trousers down, and now the Duchess of wherever has been captured without her bra. Shame never mind, who really gives a fuck?

At the start of Prince Harry's tour of duty in Afghanistan he has been targeted by the Taliban, shame they missed him and got two other soldiers instead.

The British state has been exposed as corrupt, just weeks after everyone was celebrating in post Olympic flag waving patriotic pride just how Great Britain is. The Independent enquiry into the deaths of 96 Liverpool football fans at Hillsborough in 1989 has revealed a conspiracy and cover up by the state. For 23 years people fought for the truth and for 23 years politicians of all political parties let the truth lie buried in doctored statements and lies fed to the media as 'the truth' Rather than take responsibility for their failings and inactions they blamed the fans. This isn't news to many people, we've always known that the employees of the state abuse the powers they have for their own ends, and will do anything to maintain that power and status quo, and punish those that threaten it.
After the Miners Strike and the impending Poll Tax Bill Thatcher, needed a strong police force to keep order. During the eighties there was no love lost between the city of Liverpool and central government. In 1985 Liverpool Council leader Derek Hatton a Militant Labour politician overspent the councils budget as a protest against government funding cuts to the city, an abuse of power at the time or a timely use of power? You decide! Westminster decided, and a battle line was drawn.

After 23 years Westminster has decided that the truth was a pack of lies, now there's a battle cry by the people for justice!

The State still covers up and conspires against the truth; Jean Charles Menendez shot dead by police, the innocent victim of terrorist paranoia. Ian Tomlinson, who died after being punched and pushed to the ground by the police at the G20 protests. Mark Duggan killed by police on the street in Tottenham, it's been a year since it happened and his family still haven't been told the reason he was shot dead.

The truth is out there, it's just they don't want us to see or hear it, they'd rather cover it up and use the media to distract and manipulate the minds of the masses.

FREE THE PUSSIES!

Yulia Tymoshenko the former Ukrainian Prime Minister lies ill in a hospital prison bed, imprisoned on dubious charges of 'having abused her political power' by the man she defeated in 2004's pro-democracy 'orange revolution' elections Viktor Yanukovych, who regained power in 2010 and is presently trying to re-build his dictatorship. It's not all about Pussy Power and Putin, it's about all politicians across the world and the power that they have, and how they can abuse it. There's so much we take for granted. I have the power to abuse, and can call David Cameron a cunt without the fear of being locked up by security forces for saying it. There's also so much that can be taken away from us if we let them do it. I wonder if the troops are gonna leave the streets of London once the Olympics have finished? The reason I ask this is because I heard some stupid plebs on the radio saying that the presence of soldiers made them feel safe and secure. Funny.... the very thought of having the army on the streets fills me with fear.

ELECTRIC RIVER - In Your Name E.P (A Review)

Electric River have been plugging and playing their way around the pubs'n'clubs of their home county Kent, the garden of England, for the past couple of years, building up a loyal and faithful following. The last year has seen them gigging further afield and making a name for themselves on the London circuit.
The In Your Name EP follows on from 2009's Radio No Go album and the Darwinian Flush EP, the intervening years have seen the band grow into a formidable force to be reckoned with. The five tracks: In You Name, Happy, Hold Your Nerve, Still and an acoustic version of Hold Your Nerve, rock with a real honesty, passion, power and punk rock kick.
Comparisons have been drawn between them and The Clash, The Alarm and Bruce Springsteen, I'd also add Big Country to that list. But....Electric River are no copyists, they have their own distinct big sound, with ringing guitars, catchy sing along choruses and storming melodies that stomp and stamp through your head, until yer foot can't stop tapping, and the intelligent and socially aware lyrics are buzzing round yer brain.
In Your Name is released by England Street Records on Sept 10th and their as yet untitled album is due for release early 2013. Expect to hear a lot more from Electric River in the future months and years. Check out their website here!

SPIRITUALIZED - Come Together (1 Track Promo Single.)

Dunno about 'gorgeous pop' this is a hypnotic and aggressive drug song that could go on forever. Not sure about The Beatles and Beach Boys? either, more like MC5 and The Stooges. This is the 'radio friendly 're-recorded version, the original with the fucks instead of sucks can be found on their beautiful, majestic and almost classical album Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. Fuck Brit-Pop, this was Bonged and Monged Drug-Rock pure and simple, the gospel according to Jason Pierce. Come Together here!

Some more Sunday thoughts/notes/scribblings.

I heard a presenter on the radio (LBC 97.3FM) this morning asking the listeners if “we have forgotten about Afghanistan?”

Well over the last couple of weeks people seem to have forgotten about anything that wasn't gold, sliver or bronze related. So while Team GB were increasing the counties gold reserves by winning medals, more soldiers lost their lives and limbs for their country in wars that will continue for as long as the British army are on Afghanistan and Iraqi sand.

It's not about democracy in a world that's getting more un-democratic. Global condemnation rains down on the Syrian regime, as their bombs rain down on innocent civilians who's only crime is to want free elections and political rights. In South Africa striking miners are slaughtered by the police. In Russia, Putin has put the boot in, with Female punk band Pussy Riot being given a disproportionate sentence of two years hard labour for 'hooliganism' after their impromptu performance in a Moscow church that criticised his re-election as Russian leader amid allegations of vote rigging, and generally offending his masculinity.

Then there's the case of Julian Assange of Wikileaks, who sought political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London a couple of months ago, he has now been granted it, but the British Government are refusing to let him leave and fly to Ecuador, or as they call it “escape the country” Is that allowed under International Law? Mind you since when has defying interternational laws stopped the US and UK governments doing exactly what they like? Without their illegal war in Iraq we may never have heard of wikileaks. The whole Wikileaks thing is a prime example of might against right. The might of America versus the right to the truth. Assange fears his extradition to Sweden to be questioned about sex allegations will lead to American intervention and his eventual deportation to 'the land of the free' to be held to account over the leaking of US Military 'secrets'.

Freedom....there is no freedom when people can't speak out against their leaders, but you can't kill thoughts or lock up ideas. Leaders across the world need to remember that, because one day their time will come, and that day and time comes closer every time their abuses of power are seen live and direct in perfect flat screen HD clarity on BBC/Sky/Al-Jazeera News, that's if there's nothing more important to broadcast, like two weeks of people running, swimming and throwing things.

I wonder how well Britain will do in the forthcoming Para-Olympics? probably better than the last time thanks to all the injured ex soldiers who've had their legs and arms blown off by land mines in Iraq and Afghanistan.

THE FOLK DEVILS - Vinyl Rip Re-Post

I'm gonna be lazy with this re-post, and re-print some of what I  wrote in the original post.
"Today’s musical offering at the alter of rawk’n’roll comes from the swamp lands of 1980's West London; Goodnight Irony is basically the ‘Greatest Hits’ (if they’d had any) of the criminally ignored Folk Devils. It is a collection of wired and wild, spikey and fiery amphetamine laced rock’n’roll. "  If you like the Jim Jones Review, then The Folk Devils could be for you!

THE PARTY'S OVER!

Unfortunately I did see the closing ceremony of the London Olympics, my daughter wanted to watch it. What a load of shit! If that was a celebration of British music and culture then the whole nation should be in mourning.
A load of washed up has beens Ray Davies and The Who, sorry folks your time has passed, we've got Muse and The Karzy Chiefs now, and they can fuck off with their third rate pop and rock pap. George Michael....where's a lone sniper when you needed one. The dedication and years of hard work by the athletes was contrasted by the instant X-Factor celebrity culture of the likes of No Erection, Massive Tantrum and Jessie J. “It's not about the money, money” well the whole games have been about the money, from the cost of staging them, the overpriced tickets, the sponsorship deals and “the bling, bling” of the gold medals.
Freddie Mercury and John Lennon were brought back to live, when they should remain dead and buried. Imagine, yeah I imagined.....The taxis carrying those vacuous fame hungry whores The Spice Girls crashed, causing serious injury.
Russell Brand, has he started taking drugs again, and as for Liam Gallagher and his Beady Eye, I hope Noel kicks his fuckin' head in for that performance of Wonderwall. Still it could have been worse, The Clash or the Sex Pistols could have made an appearance.
The music on show at the closing ceremony didn't put a spanner in the works, it oiled the machine.
Where were the terrorists when you needed them?
I aint even gonna bother with the rest of the shite that was passed of as something to be proud of, the supermodels etc Oh the irony of Eric Idle's performance of Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, because once the smoke from the fire works has settled and the Olympic fever has passed, that's what people are gonna have to do because....“Life's a piece of shit when you look at it.” and we're gonna be in it for a long time unless we wake up and see what is actually going on in front of our eyes not what they want us to see.

URBAN DOGS - Bonefield (A Review)

It's taken three years for Charlie Harper (UK Subs) and Knox's (The Vibrators) side project band the Urban Dogs acoustic album to hit the streets, and now it's here, has it been worth the wait? Too right it has, Bonefield is a real pedigree album that sees amongst its eleven tracks the mongrel punk rock of Tomorrows Girls return to it's acoustic roots. This is an album of the old, new, borrowed and the blues, all nicely packaged, with an eight page booklet of photos, liner notes by Charlie, and a great cover painted by Knox. For a “bare bones production” it's got a lot meat to it, thanks in part to Knox's beautiful 'electric' guitar licks'n'riffs that litter the album.
Individually Charlie and Knox have been knocking out their punk rock blues for over four decades now, and they still sound fresh, exciting and full of life, taking on the old blues classics Charlie used to busk in the 60's like Move It On Over, Hobos Lullaby, and Cocaine, which feature some great harmonica playing by The Harper, their sleazy sublime spin thru of Summertime, really is a treat. The stripped to the bone anti war statements of Warhead and War Baby, make them sound even more vital and relevant than they did in the eighties. Classics both of em! A big ya! to the rewired and wild acoustic feral ho-down that is New Barbarians.  Dragnet is just a great song no matter what. There are a couple of newies; Knox's autobiographical narrative Swampdog Blues and their Dylan like protest number Not In My Name. From start to finish Bonefield is a real gem of an album that doesn't disappoint, and could surprise a few people along the way. Old  punk classics are taken to a different dimension and given new depths, and the old blues classics are given a punk twist.  Highly recommended and available from Time and Matter Records.

WE ONLY SING WHEN WE'RE WINNING.

Olympic competitors crying because they came second and only got a silver medal.

You don't see people crying if no one likes their singing or guitar playing, do you? Oh no wait up, yes you do, the X-Factor, no but that doesn't count, cos their not musicians, they are contestants and it's a competition. That's what makes music different from sport. It's not a competition about who's the best band, although the(ir) media try to turn it into one. Stones V's Beatles / The Clash V's The Pistols / Blur V's Oasis

On the radio this morning, the presenter was referring to people having “caught the Olympic bug.” think I'd rather catch the plague than “the Olympic fever.” People have been brainwashed.
I saw some TV footage of the Olympic volunteers who were telling visitors to the Olympic Park to “smile” and “look happy”, all slightly sinister if you ask me
Give it a couple of years and people will see that it really was a case of the emperors new clothes, all style with the substance bought and sold through sponsorship deals, for the medal winners.
I don't want to take anything away from the athletes and their achievements, but they are just puppets/pawns in the real game which is all about Great Britain PLC winning.

Will the future returns be larger than the present costs, will the Olympic Legacy see more people taking up sport, I mean they've been buying and wearing the clothing for years.
Sport and keeping fit are two different things, you can exercise without competing, go running and cycling without racing. What about just for fun!

More, more, more, more competition, more gold more success. The government is proposing to make 'competitive sports' compulsory in all primary schools. Children shouldn't be forced to compete, it should be a choice, between themselves and their parents. After school Sports clubs should be accessible to all and subsidised for those on low incomes
Politicians co-opting the success of the Olympic Games for their own ends i.e. the promotion of UK PLC. I mean who was it that stopped competitive sports in schools? And who sold the school sports fields for housing? The politicians. If the London Olympics have been a success it's not down to the politicians, it's down to the people.
The majority of money for British sports comes from The National Lottery Fund, which is money made from the scratch cards and tickets people buy when they dream of the big win.

Sport and capitalism are great in bed together, because it's all about the competition. The winners and losers, success and failure. There are more losers than there are winners in both, but there's an illusion that if you try you will succeed on the ladder to success, but it really depends where abouts on the ladder you start. Some are nearer to the top than others.
I've heard people say that “life is about winning and losing” No that has how it has become thanks to the capitalist machine and cogs like sport that keep it moving, music on the other hand might make the machine money, but it doesn't support the basis of the machine which is competition. Music is a way to fight the machine and throw spanners in the works, in a way sport never can. That's why it's Rock'n'Roll for me!

JOHNNY THUNDERS / NEW YORK DOLLS - Re-Posts

JOHNNY THUNDERS - Live @ The Venue, London 22/4/82  (Part 1)   (Part 2)

Friday, 3 August 2012

IT'S NOT THE WINNING, IT'S THE TAKING PART.

Didn't see the Olympic Opening ceremony, so can't comment whether it was a Marxist Lefty Stalinist rewrite of British history, as many right wing commentators have said it was. I understand that The Clash's London Calling and The Jam's Going Underground were played at some point, why? Because London's got an Underground system or were they used as a political statement?

I haven't paid much attention to any of it really, which is hard when the whole spectacle is dominating the media. If there was ever a time to bury bad news then now is that time. The games are set against a backdrop of global conflict, from Syria to Russia, people are being killed and imprisoned in struggles for freedom against oppression, and a bit closer to home the number of families being made homeless in London has risen.

David Cameron is sucking up to all the visiting dignities, no doubt telling them that Britain’s a good place for economic investment, with a ready and willing forced to work force.

“You choose you leaders and place your trust, as their lies wash you down and their promises rust.”

We were told the games were gonna be good for the economy, well not according to businesses in London who have seen a slump in their business, and the streets are empty. Perhaps the number of troops and police in the capital and the authorities terrorist paranoia have scared people away, either that or the thought of bumping into the beaming buffoon that is Boris Johnson.
When people do take to the streets they end up getting knocked of their bike and killed by a bus carrying journalists to the Olympic stadium, oh the irony as Britain won a few medals in the cycling events, and after all that's what it all seems to be about, the Gold medals.

One thing I did catch was that Britain won a gold medal in the shooting, strikes me as a bit odd that with the continuing scourge of gun crime across the nation, that we should celebrate a victory in 'the shooting'

I hope the rest of the nation is enjoying the games, as much as I'm not, because even with the corporate big mac mobile sponsors money we're still gonna be paying for the(ir) games for years to come.

“The public gets what the public wants but I want nothing this society’s got.”

THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED

Well not exactly, but it seems that my media fire account has been suspended, can't say I'm surprised, it was only a matter of time, many fellow bloggers had theirs shut down ages ago, so que, sera, sera. Only problem is which file sharing site to use now? All suggestions welcome! If there is stuff you want re-posted, go to the GIMME THE MUZIK! tab at the top left, click and take it from there.

SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK - Early Demos (1984 - 87)

Back in 1985/86 SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK were either the future of Rock'n'Roll or one big over hyped piece of shit. All mouth and pink trousers, wigs, make up and high heels, with Rock'n'Roll riffs, techno dance beats and samples, this was the sound of the 21st Century. I saw 'em several times and they were one of the best live bands I've seen, and their debut album Flaunt It is a desert island disc of mine, but enough of that shit, here are a collection of demos from 1984 – 87, these as far as I am aware are not the same as those released as the First Generation album. Thanx to the original uploader of these over at guitars101 forum.   NEW LINK HAS BEEN SORTED!

It wouldn't be a Sunday if I wasn't spouting some of the same old shit!

Life imitates art and ends in death at a showing of the new Batman film in, Colorado USA. No surprise really; the availability of firearms, violent films and video games etc, are a lethal combination for anyone with the will to kill and an out of control ego. It's a fucked up world with death, destruction and conflict across the planet . In the UK the fog of war descends as a father kills his children and then himself, he's lost the battle he was fighting inside his head.
Life is cheap in a pound-stretcher society. Western values are fired from the barrel of a gun in the sand and desert of a foreign land, while a teenager sits in front of a computer in their room, in the line of fire on the call of duty, in their virtual world of war-craft, disconnected and desensitised from any sort of reality, through consumer sanctioned violence sold as entertainment.

Economic collapse across Europe as countries start to fall apart, the far right look to unite these divisions through scapegoating and blame, the right and left turn to populist politics, when all along they've ignored the peoples views with false promises and U-turns.
Moral decline, the rich get rich and stay rich, while the poor get poorer. Let them eat junk food, let them watch junk TV, keep them drunk on cheep booze, distract them with flag waving spectacles like Jubilees and Olympic games.

Let the people give away their freedoms by getting them addicted to technology. A digital age of close circuit hard drive mobile phone network surveillance. Who needs to think for themselves when you've got an app to do it for you.
Social network junkies. Tap, tap, tapping out another facebook fix. In a self obsessed narcissistic celebrity culture everyone feels famous amongst their twitter followers. Tweet, tweet, tweet....TWATS!

I heard on the BBC News today that the level of crime has dropped, especially the number of homicides. The number of what? Homicides....Fuck off! This is the UK not the USA, and it's murder here!

CALAMITY GAMES

How ironic that in the build up to the Olympic Games, terrorist paranoia and a culture/climate of fear has seen guns on the roofs of East London tower blocks, taking aim to shoot down terrorists from the sky, but with less than two weeks to go before they start, there isn't enough security on the ground. Between them, G4S and the government have fucked up, and now at the last minute, extra troops and police are being drafted in. I mean, if any terrorist attack is gonna happen, I've always thought it's gonna be on the streets. I wonder just how safe and secure the athletes and those going to watch the games are gonna feel knowing that security hasn't gone to plan, especially as there's not a lot of time to re-organise things.
While I'm on the subject of the Olympics, take a visit here and sign up to the petition demanding that those companies who stand to profit from the games pay the right tax, don't think G4S are gonna be one of those making a profit I heard they stand to lose £50 million over the whole fiasco. What a fucking shame! here's hoping they don't get any future contracts, like the one for private companies to take over running parts of the police force for example.

JOHNNY THUNDERS - Live in Stevenage 10/5/90 (Re-post)

Right then here's another blast of JOHNNY THUNDERS captured live in Stevenage, I won't bore you with the in's and out's of why it's taken so long to re-post this, but it involved a fucked hard drive, a lost memory stick and a computer that refused to let me rip a CD, but if we don't let the bastards grind us down, we'll get there in the end, so here you are, a rather sad but beautiful, performance by the one and only Johnny Thunders aided and abetted by Mick Vayne on Guitar and Jamie Heath on “New York Saxophone” Enjoy, cos you don't get 'em like Johnny no more, he was the real deal!

THE SPIVS, make a might lo-fi Patrik Fitzgerald meets Wire punk'n'roll racket. CYANIDE PILLS chip in with a blast of pop stained punk, while CASE serve up a tasty slab of ska, funk punk. Then there's a rightous, riotous and rebellious row from CUTE LEPERS. To get the above EP, all you need do is sign up to the Damaged Goods mailing list, and its yours, it doesn't just sound like a good deal, it is one! So.... click, click, click....what ya waiting for!!

Spouting shit on a Sunday.

I over heard a conversation on the bus the other day were someone was telling their friend about one of their children. “They've done really well for themselves.” as oppose to what.... doing really bad?! When it comes to life under total capitalism life is reduced to a competition, where doing well is seen by people as having a good job, earning good money, owning your own home and generally being a good capitalist by consuming it all, and then standing in judgement of those who've done bad.
Human nature isn't just greed and selfishness. Humans have been nurtured that way. Co-operation has been sacrificed on the alter of capitalist competition, in the church of consumption. We need to be going backwards to go forwards. Mutual exchange working together for the common good, before things turn really bad!

FALLEN ANGELS - In Loving Memory/Wheel Of Fortune

Hats off to Jungle Records for, in these economic hard times releasing, THE FALLEN ANGELS albums In Loving Memory and Wheel Of Fortune on CD for the first time, a 2CD set no less.... with bonus tracks. (A demo version of the Urban Dogs New Baptism, and a 21 minute version of Troops Of Tomorrow, are amongst the bonus tracks.) Both albums are more laid back and poppy than the first album, Knox's Lou Reed, Velvet Underground influence shines bright on a lot of the tracks. Andy McCoy and Nasty Suicide's role on these albums are as special guests rather than being the nucleus of the band, as they were on the first album. Some songs; Country Girl, Sailors On The Sea, Losing My Reason date back to Knox's pre Vibrators days when he played in a band called Despair, early versions of these can be found on; Despair The Birth Of The Vibrators 1973-1975, available from Cleopatra Records, or all good download stores. Also due out very soon on Time and Matter Records is the URBAN DOGS long, long, long awaited acoustic album Bonefield, it's been a long time coming, but I'm sure it's gonna have been worth the wait. One day it will come to pass that Knox is recognised by more people as one of Britains great song writers, until that day comes lets be thank full for people like Jungle Records and Time and Matter for releasing the records.

S*M*A*S*H - THE D*E*M*O*S (R*E*P*O*S*T)

In true Andy Warhol fashion S*M*A*S*H exploded onto the front covers of the national music press in 1994, and then disappeared a couple of years later...Shame! Having witnessed them from their early SMASH AT THE BLUES days (their 1st demo's on this download) to SKY TV following them around a gig at their local venue in Welwyn Garden City, The Ludwick Club, when they signed their record deal, to seeing them on Top Of The Pops, the first band to appear on the show without having a single out, was real surreal.  Anyway, here's another blast of some 90's New Wave Of New Wave Rock'n'Roll....E*N*J*O*Y

"After all this won't you give me a smile"

I can't help but laugh every time I see the British Airways advert with The Clash's London Calling being used for the musical accompaniment “London calling to the far away towns now that war is declared and battle come down....See we aint got no swing 'cept for the ring of that truncheon thing” A song about the winter world of the apocalypse inviting people to rip off Britain PLC, where everything is up for sale. It would have been even funnier if the advert had been running this time last year, just before the August riots. Still, it's a year on from then, and the only change has been for the worst, so who knows what could happen on the streets in the Olympic summer of 2012 “The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in. Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin.”
The streets of London are going to be invaded by The Army, as it appears that G4S (Group 4 Security) have failed to deliver enough 'security' for the games, or is it an excuse by the government to get more troops on the streets to satisfy their terrorist paranoia and send a message of fear to potential 'trouble makers' Whatever the reasons for increased security, if G4S have failed in their agreement with the government, it isn't a good advert for them, especially as there has been talk of them taking over some duties from the police, and a private police force is not a good idea for anyone, except for the government who save money at our expense!

Public Service Announcement #2

Right then, looks like my network connection problem has been sorted, the General Malaise seems to be passing, but the hard drive crash is still a problem, I'm gonna get someone to have a look at it, and there may be a chance that not all is lost. Some stuff was backed up, but not everything, so requests for reposts is a bit of a lucky dip, I'm hoping to get the S*M*A*S*H demos and THE FOLK DEVILS sorted this week, and hopefully the JOHNNY THUNDERS live in Stevenage, but...... work, family etc and doing some new posts doesn't leave much time left. The time bank is about as healthy as the money bank .

THE NO NAME JANES - Pornstar Endorsed

Pistol Packin' fun with The No Name Janes

From Wrexham in North Wales, and named after pornstar No Name Jane, The No Name Janes formed at the beginning of 2011. By the middle of the year they'd released Pornstar Endorsed, their first EP. It's like it says on the tin, as No Name Jane provides a spoken word introduction and a picture for the cover. Hard copies of the EP have sold out, but it is available digitally on line, as is the follow up; Adult Situations...And Language Once the band have enough funds they plan to go into the studio and record a mini-album and do a proper release. Until then the band are gigging everywhere they can.
The No Name Janes are Loud, fast, energetic, jump about fist in the air good time oi, oi punk rawk, with a 21st Century tuneful polished pop punk sound, but still keeping the spirit of 77 alive and kickin'. A real tonic for the troops! Check out their Reverbnation page where you'll find 8 tracks to download. for free, and then go and buy the EP's.  Highly recommended listening for these trouble torn times.

Scribblings and Dribblings

High tech communication reduces peoples ability to speak to people face to face. Sat nav takes away the sense of direction, and they call it progress.

People need to say enough is enough we have become bloated on gadgets and obese with obedience to objects that they want us to desire.

People love sports, yet half the nation is too fat and lazy to get up and change the TV channel without the aid of a remote control, but then who needs to do that when you can watch two channels at the same time, where would we be without progress.

The Queens Jubilee and Euro 2012 are done and dusted, just the Olympics to go, then all the flag waving red, white and blue chest beating national pride bullshit and propaganda is over till the next time.

And still the rain falls from the sky, flood waters rise faster then terrorist paranoia.

Bankers, politicians, tax avoiders, the royal family, greedy selfish bastards, over paid over hyped celebrities....The Great Wall of China isn't long enough to put 'em all up against.

BLAH BLAH BLAH

Creating social divisions and demonizing the young. I agree with Labour, that it isn't racist to talk about immigration. I just think that perhaps Ed Milliband should have kept his mouth shut and said nothing, because there is a chance that odious individuals and Right Wing Extremist parties will use it as a means to justify their racism, I mean the right wing press are always telling the people that the immigrants have taken all the jobs and are living in all the council houses.

David Cameron continued his attack on young people by saying that Housing Benefit should be stopped for the under 25's. The benefit system may encourage people, young and old not to work, but rather than cut/reduce housing benefit why not put a rent cap on how much private landlords can charge.
I noticed Cameron soon shut his mouth after standing in moral judgement of Comedien Jimmy Carr for avoiding paying the correct amount of tax. He probably realised questions might be asked about where his wealth came from, and that of Tory party doners, and how much tax they have avoided paying.

A something for nothing society where everyone wants something when having everything is really having nothing. Their established order of things is morally bankrupt, we've had the MP's expenses, phone hacking, bankers bonuses and now interest rate fixing. The 'something for nothing culture' is the other side of the same coin where their tax system enables the rich to avoid paying their taxes, while remaining within the law. Benefit Cheats and Tax Dodgers are both the same to me, but in the eyes of the(ir) law one is a crime, the other is perfectly legal, yet they both steal money from the public services.

The Government has ordered an enquiry into the Banks and the fixing of interest rates, this is going to be carried out by a group of politicians from all parties. What!!!! that's like letting foxes look after a chicken coup. Left wing or Right wing they all represent the interests of capital, and are all guilty of fixing everything in their own interests!

Doctor, Doctor....I feel sick!

It has recently been proposed by the government that low paid workers claiming tax credits (a benefit paid to top up their wage to a living one) will lose this for each day they go on strike. Doctors in England take strike action tomorrow, and they won’t be losing a days wages for their actions. Once again it’s good to see that we are all in this together.

On your marks. Get set....

So the London 2012 Olympic Games are going to come in ‘under budget’ Would that be the millions of pounds they are  over budget from the original bid? and not including the millions of pounds for extra security? ???????????????? No I didn’t think so. Fuck the(ir) games. It’s all a load of bullshit! Good for the(ir) economy? Fuck the(ir) economy, this is rip off Britain, where the only real competition is,  which company can make the most money out of the people going to the games.

VIVE LE ROCK - cd (A Compilation)

Haven’t had much music here recently so I’m gonna put a stop to that with another one of Vive Le Rock magazines free cover mounted CD‘s. This one’s number six, even though the cover is a Public Image Ltd Pastiche, there’s not a PIL track on it?? But what you do get are 14 more tracks of Rock’nRoll, Punk, New Wave and Beyond! Starting off with some not so vintage FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM with a live version from 2008 of Moonchild, Carl McCoy’s growling rasping voice is enough to raise Satan. REBEL CITY RADIO follow with some melodic Rancid style punk rawk, before the legendary DEMENTED ARE GO give us a blast of their mutant psychedelic punk a billy.
BLOOD ON WHEELS serve up a slice of chugging rock in the vein of Queens of The Stone Age.   MORGELLONS sound like a more up tempo Joy Division, before THE SKINTS provide a nice Dub Reggae break from the guitar onslaught. Veteran rockers THE DOGS return with a riff laden beast of a tune. TEMPLTON PEK have a post punk Echo And The Bunnymen vibe going on amongst their Rage Against The Machine isms. The tastefully named PINK CIGAR’s Next Generation is a punk glam stomper, while THE NO NAME JANES sound like The Clash being fed through a Green Day blender, THE ANGRY AGENDA and CRASHED OUT carry on with the spirit of 80’s Oi and veteran 1977 Southend Punkers THE MACHINES return with a newie Weekend all before Punk Rock Agents THE SHADOW sign things of with a catchy piece of Punk Rawk. Grab It Here! and Smash It Up!!

All this Queens Diamond Jubilee bollocks....

…. is really getting on my tits! She’s just a figure head for a sinking ship that no longer rules the waves of a drowning world. She’s only needed for the money she supposedly generates for the countries economy, offset that against how much she costs the nation in taxes, and she’s still a parasite, would we miss having a monarchy? I doubt it, alright she goes on charm offences across the former empires and colonies ‘we‘ once ruled over, and walkabouts in her own country, and that’s it, about time she and her extended family retire and put their feet up and we do away with the whole charade. We don’t need an excuse like the royal family to celebrate being British do we ? Their jubilee celebrations feel like some friendly form of flag waving fascism, where if you say anything against them you are told you are “being un-patriotic.” No! I just don’t belief in celebrating deference to her and the states authority.  Yes! it is one mass distraction from the iceberg they are sailing us towards.

"RED WHITE AND BLUE, THE COLOURS OF THE FLAG / RAISE IT HIGH AND SALUTE THE RAG" -The Clefts
