PETER PERRETT in THE ONE - Woke Up Sticky (album)
Today’s musical offering is from Peter Perrett when he became The One. Woke Up Sticky, has been described as his “great lost album” I posted the EP of the same name a while back, all the tracks on that are included here as bonus cuts. It is a great album well worth finding and equal to his work with The Only Ones, who incidentally should have a new album out later this year. Anyway while yer waiting for that if you want a fix of Mr Perrett just hit it!

Just took my daughter to see The Only Ones in Zaandam the other night, with some trepidation, I might add. Would they embarrass themselves? Would Peter be able to lift his guitar? Totally needless, as it turned out. Can you say 'Gig of the decade'?
They were in furious form. Peter was even smiling. This is a band at the height of their powers, and with some new songs easily as good as their old ones.
We got to hang out with them afterwards, thanks to my daughter's email habits (she had been in touch with John Perry for a while). They are recording a new CD and looking for deals to get it released. They all seem very happy with things, and Peter, though physically frail, seems to be clean and happy. Incidentally, they are the nicest bunch you would ever want to meet. No posturing or other rock star bullshit, just very genuine people, very grateful for getting another chance. Buy the new CD and go see them play, you won't regret it.
This is great to have this one again had it on an old c90 tape that got damaged. Is that semen on the cover? (woke up sticky) great stuff (the album not the semen)cheers Nuzz.
A good album.
Took me a while to get into this one when it came out. I actually didn’t realise I’m Not like Everybody Else was a Ray Davies song at first. Sounds like its come directly from the pen of Perrett.
Ultimately prefer the Only Ones though.
Excellent posting Nuzz. I didn't even know this one existed. Gonna play it in the bath tonight (too much information I think)
"a fix of Mr Perrett"...
now THAT'S a nice little pun!
Good to hear the Only Ones are in fine form again, hope they come to the states soon.
Nice post, I really like this cd, I remember being surprised when it came out in the mid 90s.
The Only Ones are releasing a DVD of one of the reunion shows,it is supposed to be Region Free, so this Amerikan can watch it, if i can get my paws on it1
That's good to hear the munch, on several levels a) They're still a great band b)The younger generation have good taste and c) The fact that they are nice people. Chuckle, chuckle Marky.Thanx for calling by anon, Gary, nazz and eric glad yer liked it.
nice post and I heavily agree. A down to earth lot who have been terribly over-looked throughout the years.
The re-unification is a treat for all, especially those unable to see them in their early prime.
Eagerly awaiting their upcoming UK tour
Thanks Nuzz! Hope you don't mind me directing a fan or two to this post?
Nuzz, I was wondering if you would be so kind as to upload this again. It is near impossible to find and ebay copies are going for ridiculous prices. Here is hoping. Cheers!
